How to Restore Missing Desktop Tile On Start Screen In Windows 8

In Windows 8, Start screen is the first thing that you see after logging in. Instead of the legacy desktop, you are greeted with the tiled Start screen where you can see information about your Facebook, Twitter, Weather and many other things without launching apps.

To switch to the desktop mode, one needs to click on the Desktop tile present on the Start screen. One can also move to desktop by clicking on the desktop preview that appears when you move the mouse cursor to the lower-left corner of the screen. Keyboard addicts can use Windows + M keys to see the desktop, Windows key to toggle between desktop and Start screen, and Windows + E keys to open the Explorer (Computer).

Uninstalling or removing an app or tile from the Start screen in fairly simple in Windows 8. Right-clicking on a tile or app and then clicking Unpin from Start removes the item from the Start screen. Because of this, many users often complain about the missing Desktop tile from the Start screen.
