Want to make a voice or video call on Skype but don’t want to create an account? Would you like to start a conversation on Skype without signing in to your account? If answered yes, you will be glad to know that Microsoft now allows you to use Skype without a Microsoft account. In fact, you can start using Skype right away without an account.

Microsoft recently announced that anyone can now start using Skype without having to register or even download the Skype client.

Skype now allows users use Skype free service as a guest user, meaning you can now start a chat, make a video or voice call, or transfer files without having to create a Microsoft account or signing in to your Microsoft account.

In short, you no longer need to have a Skype account to begin using it. This Skype without an account service allows you to invite up to 300 people to the chat and up to 25 people on a voice or video call!

For now, as per Microsoft, to use Skype without an account (as a guest), you will need to use a web browser from a computer. In other words, this feature is currently not available for smartphone users for some reason.

In our opinion, this is a brilliant move by Microsoft, and Skype will now attract more users for sure.

As a long-time Skype user, I have a Skype account. I have credit on that account. But it now seems that Microsoft want to cancel (i.e. steal) my credit unless I use the account – but it now seems that I can only do that if I sign up for a Mi9crosoft account. I, like millions of others, HATE the idea of Microsoft having any more access to my information than they already have. Is there no way, in 2018, to have some privacy from Microsoft and yet still use what I have paid for (i.e. an operating system that does not behave like a Trojan and communications that I use rarely, but which I have paid for? In most games, changing the rules after the game has started is pretty much frowned upon…. – or is Microsoft just too big to care?
