Pin Admin Command Prompt To Taskbar In Windows 10

PC users often use elevated Command Prompt or Command Prompt with admin rights to perform some advanced system level tasks. The latest Windows 10 version offers a number of ways to open Command Prompt with admin rights.

Right-clicking on the Start button and then clicking Command Prompt (admin) is probably one of the easiest ways out there to open admin Command Prompt in Windows 10 open admin Command Prompt in Windows 10 (you can use Win+X and then A key to make the job faster).

A large number of PC users prefer pinning frequently used programs to the taskbar for easy access. If you often need to open admin Command Prompt, you might like the idea of pinning the admin Command Prompt to the taskbar for quick access.

NOTE: You can use this method to run any program as administrator right from the taskbar.

Here is how to pin Command Prompt with administrator rights to Windows 10 taskbar.

Step 1: Use the Start/taskbar search to run Command Prompt.

Step 2: When the Command Prompt is running, right-click on its taskbar icon and then click Pin to taskbar option. You may now close the Command Prompt.

You have successfully pinned the Command Prompt to the taskbar but clicking it won’t open Command Prompt with admin rights. We need to follow the instructions in the next four steps to make the Command Prompt icon pinned to the taskbar always open Command Prompt as administrator.

Step 3: Right-click on the Command Prompt’s icon that you have pinned to the taskbar. You should now see Command Prompt, Unpin from taskbar, and Close window (if you have not closed Command Prompt window) in the jump list.

Step 4: Now, right-click on Command Prompt’s entry in the jump list (see picture below) and then click Properties. This action will open Command Prompt Properties dialog.

Step 5: Under the Shortcut tab, click Advanced button. It will open Advanced properties dialog.

Step 6: Check Run as administrator option. Click OK button. Finally, click Apply button. That’s it!

The Command Prompt icon on the taskbar will now launch Command Prompt with admin rights whenever you click on it. Of course, you can move the icon anywhere on the taskbar, if you wish.
