TeamViewer, the popular screen sharing, file-sharing, and remote support software has been updated to version 9 with new features and improvements, and the first beta version of TeamViewer 9 is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
Ability to open multiple connections in different tabs, wake-on-LAN to wake up your Windows, Mac, or Linux computer remotely, two-factor authentication, save customized quick support and quick join modules with your company branding, and copy & paste files from one computer to another are some of the new features introduced with this version of free for personal use remote support software.
It’s now also possible to send files to contacts in your list without having to restore your remote session. The computers and contact list now shows notifications such as new contact request and new service cases when they are available.
TeamViewer 9 has been optimized for the recently released Windows 8.1 and OS X Mavericks operating systems, meaning that early adopters can use TeamViewer 9 without any issues.
Even though the user interface has not seen major changes, this version of TeamViewer includes a touch-friendly design for touch devices. When you install and run TeamViewer on a touch device, buttons designed for touch screen appear instead of regular ones.
Before you jump to the download page, please note that even though it’s possible to establish a remote connection from TeamViewer 9 to previous versions (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8), it’s not possible to establish a remote connection from previous versions to version 9. For instance, you can’t establish a remote connection from TeamViewer 7 to version 9. In order to establish a connection to version 9, you have to update the current version of your TeamViewer to version 9.
The other cool feature is that you can create a desktop shortcut to any remote computer so you can quickly establish a connection without having to manually launch the program.
Visit the download page to get your copy of TeamViewer 9 for Windows, Mac and Linux. A version of TeamViewer app designed for Windows RT and touch devices can be downloaded from the official Windows Store in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
