4 Ways To Create Zip Files In Windows 11

Last Updated on March 10, 2025 by admin Leave a Comment

The Windows operating system has allowed the creation of zip files for a long time. The latest Windows 11 version also supports creating and opening Zip, RAR, and 7z files without using third-party tools.

As you likely know, compressed files or zipped files take up less storage space than uncompressed files. Besides, they are easy to share, especially when you have many files.

This guide shows you how to create a Zip file in Windows 11 without using third-party tools.

Method 1 of 4

Create a Zip file in Windows 11 using the context menu (right-click menu)

Step 1: Open the File Explorer and navigate to the folder where those files/folders you want to zip are located.

Step 2: Select files and folders that you want to zip. To select multiple files and folders, you can hold down the Ctrl key and then click on the files/folders you want to select.

Step 3: Perform a right-click, click Compress to, and then click ZIP File. Note that if you have selected multiple files by holding down the Ctrl key, do not release the Ctrl key while right-clicking on them.
