Now that Microsoft has released Service Pack 1 for Office 2010 suite, this is the right time to slipstream/integrate SP1 into Office 2010 setup file. By slipstreaming Service Pack 1 into Office setup file, you will be able to save both time and effort next time when you install Office 2010 software.

Office 2010 SP1.

Slipstreaming or integrating Office Service Pack is pretty simple. You can slipstream SP1 without using third-party tools. We are going to use two simple commands to complete the slipstreaming process.

NOTE: We assume that you have Office 2010 installer file.

How to slipstream Office 2010 Service Pack 1:

Step 1: Download Service Pack 1 for Office 2010 from following links:

x86 version SP1 download | x64 version SP1 download

There was no mention to create an “Update” folder beforehand

The comments above above about this process not being slipstreaming are correct. True slipstreaming involves updating the actual source files with the updated files e.g. with Office 2003 using “msiexec /p …”.
Microsoft (for Volume License customers) do provide an Office 2010 .iso image integrated with SP1. I’d recommend downloading that. This updated iso will save the 370MB separate SP1 file set and the SP1 install time.

Sorry to say. This is not slipstreaming. Int the install process you first install office 2010 and afterwards the SP1.

Ma….I gess this is just extracting thing from sp1 update exe files, not slipstreaming it.

But this is not slipstreaming SP1 into Office. If you slipstream it would update the current files in Office 2010. It does not.

Because that’s what the article said when they copied it from the other blog. Found the same dumb@$$ article on the first three sites I checked.

Wanna make it really easy? Extract the SP1 file with 7zip. Walla, yur done…

Quite why you feel the need to tell everyone to put the sp1.exe and the office.exe files into their own folders just to extract them is anybody’s guess… that’s just pointless. Leave them on the desktop and extract them from there.

    1. Save this text as “Slipstream.bat”

    md Office
    ProfessionalPlus.exe /extract:Office
    ren officesuite* officesuite.*
    officesuite /extract:Office\Updates

    2. Download and copy the two files Office (ProfessionalPlus.exe) and Service Pack (officesuite…) in the same path of “Slipstream.bat”

    3. Run “Slipstream.bat”
