Start Picture Slideshow From File Explorer In Windows 10

All of us have used the picture slideshow feature either using Windows Photo Viewer or the new Photos app in Windows 10. One can easily start a picture slideshow feature by clicking the Slideshow button in the Windows Photo Viewer or Photos app.

A significant number of PC users often need to play picture slideshow. Most users either use Windows Photos Viewer or Photos app in Windows 10 to view picture slideshow.

But what most users not aware of is that you don’t need to open Windows Photo Viewer, Photos app, or any other photo viewer to start a slideshow of pictures located in a folder. In short, you don’t need to manually open Windows Photo Viewer or Photos app to start a slideshow in Windows 10.

There is this cool feature in Windows 10 (this feature is likely available in Windows 8 as well) which allows you start picture slideshow right from the folder where your pictures are located, meaning you don’t have to manually open a picture viewer and then click slideshow button to start a slideshow.

Users who have been using the File Explorer without minimizing the Ribbon likely aware of this feature, but users who prefer to use File Explorer with Ribbon minimized might not have discovered this feature yet.

Follow the given below directions to start picture slideshow right from File Explorer in Windows 10.

Step 1: Open up File Explorer and navigate to the folder containing pictures.

Step 2: After opening up the folder, click on a picture file to select it.

Step 3: Click the Manage tab in the Ribbon and then click the Slide show option to begin the slideshow of all pictures.

And if the Manage tab is missing or now showing up, it’s because you have not selected a picture file. Click on a picture file in the folder to see the Manage tab.

And if you want to include only specific pictures, please select pictures that you want to see in the slideshow and then click the Slide show option.

    On my machine, it doesn’t work. Nothing happens. How to investigate this? The slide show just does not start.
