Windows 10 offers a couple of ways to protect your account and data. You can set a password, create a PIN to sign in, use a picture password, use your face or iris as a password, or you can use your fingerprint as a password.
Protecting your account and data with a strong password or using one of the methods mentioned above is a good idea. While fingerprint and face recognition sign-in methods are easy and fast, users who don’t have compatible PCs have no option but to use the traditional method of typing the password every time to sign in to Windows 10.
Bypass lock and login screen in Windows 10
If you are the sole user of the Windows 10 PC or tablet and you don’t carry your Windows 10 device much, you can configure Windows 10 to automatically boot to desktop by skipping the lock and login screen.
There is a mechanism in Windows 10 using which you can automatically sign in to Windows 10, even if you have set a password for your account. You can refer to our how to automatically sign in to Windows 10 guide for detailed instructions.
The built-in option to configure the automatic sign-in, although it is easy, it’s not straight-forward. If you’re looking for an easy way to make Windows 10 automatically skip the lock and login screen and boot directly to the desktop, you need to download the free Autologon utility from Microsoft TechNet.
The Autologon utility enables you to configure the built-in autologon mechanism with ease. Autologon tool saves your data in encrypted form to the Registry. Hence, your account credentials are secure.
And the best part is that you can use the Autologon tool to skip lock and sign-in screen if you are using a Microsoft account to sign in to Windows 10.
Using Autologon to skip the lock and login screen in Windows 10
Step 1: Visit this page of Microsoft TechNet, and download Autologon utility. Extract the zip file to get the executable file.
Step 2: Run the Autologon tool. When you see the User Account Control prompt, click the Yes button to see the license agreement dialog.
Accept the license agreement by clicking the Agree button.
Step 3: The Autologon tool automatically fills out the username and domain field. You just have to type the password.
Type the password for your user account and then click Enable. That’s it!
IMPORTANT: If you’re using a Microsoft account to sign in, please fill in your full email address in the username field and then enter the password.
Step 4: You will see the following dialog “Autologon successfully configured” message.
Tip: While turning on your PC, hold down the Shift key to turn off the auto-logon feature.
To completely disable autologon, rerun the tool, enter your account password, and then click the Disable button.

Does not work for a single second. Still requires password

The autologon works for us and we disabled sleep and all but we do still have the screen that turns off after 15 min and when you wake it up it still ask for a password.
We tried a lot of things, GPO, registry modification but still can’t manage to make it so that it won’T ask for a password in windows 10 when coming back from a “screen sleep”
Any ideas?

netplwiz isn’t working on 3 machines I’ve tried it on yet it works on others. I even edited the registry as was suggested on another site and that didn’t work. Does anyone know of a fool proof way of logging in without having to type a password?
