When you install Avast Free Antivirus on your Windows PC with default settings, the Avast Antivirus installer also installs Avast SafeZone in addition to Antivirus.
For beginners, Avast SafeZone is a free web browser with built-in privacy and security features. Basically, SafeZone is based on the Chromium browser. Ad Blocker, Passwords, Video Downloader, Online Security, and Safe Price add-ons are included in SafeZone by default to enhance security and privacy.
While the SafeZone browser seems like a decent browser with tons of privacy and security features, many users use other popular browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. Since most of the add-ons mentioned above can be installed on these browsers to enhance privacy and security, many users don’t feel the necessity of having another web browser on their PCs.
As said at the beginning of this article, the Avast browser setup automatically installs SafeZone while installing Antivirus with default settings. However, you can avoid installing SafeZone by choosing custom install and then unchecking the SafeZone browser.
If you want to uninstall or remove Avast SafeZone from your Windows PC, please complete the below-mentioned directions.
Method 1 of 2
Uninstall or remove Avast SafeZone if it’s already installed
If SafeZone is installed along with Avast Antivirus, you can use the following directions to remove or uninstall it from your PC.
Step 1: Type Appwiz.cpl in Start/taskbar search box and then press Enter key to open Programs and Features window.
Step 2: Here, you should see the Avast Antivirus entry. Right-click on Avast Antivirus entry and click Change option. This will open the Avast Antivirus Setup page again.
Step 3: Click the Change button.
Step 4: Uncheck the SafeZone Browser option and then click the Change button. That’s it! The SafeZone browser will be uninstalled and removed from your PC.
Once done, you might be asked to reboot your PC.

Install Avast Antivirus without SafeZone browser
Rather than removing SafeZone after installing Avast Antivirus with default settings, you can choose custom install to avoid installing SafeZone while installing Avast on your PC. Here is how to do that.
Step 1: Download the Avast Antivirus setup. Run the setup file.
Step 2: When you see the following screen, click Customise link (below the Install button).
Step 3: Uncheck SafeZone Browser. Click the Install button to install Avast Antivirus without the SafeZone browser.

The avast SafeZone browser is not made in your everyday browsing and at least I don’t recommend it for this. Avast SafeZone is one of those browsers that you will use when you are shopping and/or logging into say PayPal or your bank’s website. Although thanks for sharing the great information.
