Check Mouse And Keyboard Battery Level In Windows 10

Last Updated on April 5, 2018 by admin 5 Comments

Most of the Bluetooth devices come with their software to change default actions and provide information about the device’s battery status as well. For instance, I have installed Logitech SetPoint software to know the exact status and change default button actions of Performance MX mouse (MR0007), which I bought a few years ago (an excellent mouse at its price range).

The Logitech SetPoint even sends out a notification when the battery level is low, although there are indicators on the mouse to display approximate battery level. The same is the case with Bluetooth devices from other manufacturers as well.

The good thing is that you don’t need to open your mouse, keyboard or that Bluetooth device’s software to check its battery level when it’s connected to your Windows 10 PC.

If you have connected a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, headphone or another device to your Windows 10 PC, you can now check the battery level of the external device with ease.

Windows 10 RS5 build 17639 and later builds show you the battery level of your external Bluetooth device. This means that, you get the exact battery level status of the external Bluetooth device.

Please note that Windows 10 can show the Bluetooth device’s battery level only if the device supports this feature. All devices might not support this feature.

Check the battery level of Bluetooth devices in Windows 10.

Step 1: Navigate to Settings app > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.

Step 2: You should now see the battery level next to the device name.

Obviously, only devices that are currently connected to your PC will appear in the devices list.

If Windows 10 is not showing the battery level of the Bluetooth device, please check if you are running 17639 or above builds of Windows 10 RS5.

Also, update the device driver to the latest available version and check again. You can also contact the device manufacturer to check if it supports this new feature of Windows 10.

    @Quadraphone and @Binkie

The lack of common sense that George Wood could potentially be an older person who didn’t grow up with a computer hence the reason his comment doesn’t make sense. Not everyone is tech savvy. Sad reaction from both of you. Grow up.

@George Wood – Umm…Wow. You seem like someone who really needs ongoing computer support. For your next computer, you should probably just buy a Mac, as they come with AppleCare.

To George Wood: The fact that your issue was “my computer was not operating the way is should” and your solution was to “call your internet” to see if they were “doing anything”, let alone the fact that you posted your story on some page about mouse and keyboard battery level, confirms that you’re exactly the kind of person who should pay an ongoing support fee to own a computer.

is there a software security license that I need to obtain from Microsoft ?
my computer was not operating the way is should, I called my internet to see if they were doing anything that may cause the problem, they put me in to “VT Support” which I didn’t ask for; VT fixed my problem for a price of $149.00
I paid it and the computer is working fine, but VT tells me it’s a 3 year charge, they monitor for any problems which I don’t want. VT tells me the 3 years is for Microsoft license that needs to be renewed after my 3 years is up.
Is this true or am I being scammed by VT Support (1-888-985-6070) tech support person Stuart Martin.
    thank you
    George Wood
