What Is The Latest Version Of Intel Processor?

Last Updated on December 22, 2022 by admin Leave a Comment

Both Intel and AMD are the market leaders when it comes to computer processors. Of the two, Intel holds about three-fourths of the PC processor market share.

Intel Corp releases a new iteration of processors almost every year. So if you are in the market today to purchase a new computer or recently purchased a new PC, you might want to know about the latest generation of Intel processors.

What is the latest version of the Intel processor in 2022?

As of December 2022, 13th-generation processors are the latest from Intel.

Is the 13th generation Intel processor available in the market?

Since the 13th-generation processors are relatively new to the market, only select OEMs have started offering 13th-generation processors. That said, finding a desktop/laptop with 13th generation processor should not be a difficult job.

NOTE: OEMs have been shipping PCs with Intel 12gen processors for quite some time now. Finding a PC powered by Intel 12th generation processor is easy and relatively cheaper than the latest generation processors.

How to check which generation your PC’s Intel processor belongs to?

In Windows 10/11, there are multiple ways to discover the Intel processor’s generation. Here is an easy way:

Step 1: Open the Settings app using the search or Windows logo + I hotkey.

Step 2: Go to System > About page.

Step 3: On the right side, under the Device Specifications section, the Processor field shows your Intel processor’s model number.

If your processor belongs to, say 13th generation, the model number will start with 13. Please ignore i3/i5/i7/i9, as it has nothing to do with the generation.

As you can see in the picture above, my laptop is powered by the Intel 8th-generation processor. So, the model number starts with the number 8. If your processor belongs to the 11th generation, you will see 11 at the beginning (after i3/i5/i7/i9) of the model number.

Does Intel’s 13th generation support Windows 11?

Of course, Intel 13th-generation processors are fully compatible with Windows 11. In fact, all 8th generation and above Intel processors meet Windows 11’s minimum hardware requirements.
