Most of the Windows-running laptops shipped over the last five years come with precision touchpads that not only support basic touchpad gestures but also advanced gestures for enhanced productivity.
Both Windows 10 and 11 offer a variety of gestures. Although two, three, and four-finger gestures are turned on by default, you can turn off touchpad gestures you do not find helpful by navigating to the Touchpad page in the Settings app.
As you might already know, the Touchpad page in the Settings app offers a reset button so users can reset touchpad settings and gestures to their defaults. The option comes in handy when the touchpad or the gestures are not working correctly.
Many users have been complaining that the Reset button offered to reset the touchpad settings is greyed out in Windows 11. This guide will show you how to fix this problem.
Enable the touchpad reset button in Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Settings app. Go to Bluetooth and devices > Touchpad page.
Step 2: Click on Touchpad to see the Reset button.
Step 3: If the Reset button is grayed out and you are unable to click on it, uncheck the option labeled Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected.
Step 4: The Reset button should now be active, and you should be able to click on it.
Click the Reset button to reset the touchpad settings and gestures. That’s it!
