Do you have a file created with the Apple Numbers app on a Mac computer? Do you need to open and edit the Apple Numbers or .numbers file with the Excel app on your Windows 10/11 PC? If so, this is the guide for you.

As you know, Apple Numbers is a spreadsheet app available on Apple devices such as Macs and iPhones. The Numbers app is very similar to the Microsoft Office Excel program, also available for Windows and Mac.

You have a few options if you have a Numbers file and want to open it on a computer running Windows 10/11.

The following are the three ways to open a Numbers file in Excel on a Windows 10/11 PC.

Method 1 of 3

Save the Numbers file as an Excel file on Mac and then open it on Windows 10/11

This method works well only if you have a Mac or iPhone handy. The idea is to use the Numbers app on your Apple device to save the file as an Excel file, share it to your Windows 10/11 PC, and then open it with the Excel app. Here is how.

Step 1: Open the file with the Numbers app on a Mac.

Step 2: Click the File menu, click Export To, and then click Excel.

Step 4: Now, send the Excel file to your Windows 10/11 computer via email or any other way, and open it with the Excel app.

Method 2 of 3

Use iCloud online service to convert Numbers file to Excel and then open it with Excel

Once again, this method requires an Apple ID, which you should have if you have an Apple device such as an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Step 1: Visit the official iCloud page and sign in with your Apple ID credentials.

Step 2: On the homepage of iCloud, click the Apple Numbers icon.

The iCloud Numbers page will take a few seconds to convert the Numbers document to Excel before downloading it to your PC.

Step 5: You may now open it with Office Excel on your Windows 11/10 computer.

Method 3 of 3

Convert Numbers file to Excel file online for free and then open it with Excel

Multiple online services exist to convert Apple Numbers files to Excel. You can use services such as Zamzar or CloudConvert to convert a Numbers file to Excel.

Although these services are pretty good, we understand that you might not be comfortable uploading a confidential file to an unknown cloud service. In that case, we recommend using the Apple iCloud service (as mentioned in Method 2).

Step 1: Visit Zamzar website and select Apple Numbers to Excel tool.

Step 2: Click the Choose files button, select and upload the Apple Numbers file, and then click the Convert button to convert the file to an Excel file.

You may download it now and open it with Office Excel on your PC.
