8 Ways To Open Disk Management In Windows 11

In the Windows operating system, Disk Management is used to create, format, and delete drive partitions. The built-in tool can also be used to extend and shrink volumes, check disk health, and change drive letters.

Windows 11, like the earlier versions, offers over half a dozen ways to access the Disk Management tool. The following are the seven ways to open the Disk Management utility in Windows 11.

Method 1 of 8

Open Disk Management via search in Windows 11

Step 1: In the Start menu search box or taskbar search field, type Disk Management and then press the Enter key to open the Disk Management window.

Open Disk Management via the power user menu in Windows 11

Step 1: Right-click the Windows logo icon (also known as the Start button) to see the power-user menu, which can also be opened using Windows logo + X keyboard shortcut.

Step 2: Click the Disk Management option to open it.

Use a Run command to open the Disk Management in Windows 11

Step 1: Open the Run command dialog box using the Windows logo + R keyboard shortcut. Alternatively, you can use the search to open the Run command.

Step 2: In the Run dialog box, type diskmgmt.msc and then hit the Enter key to open the Disk Management window.

Launch Disk Management via the Settings app in Windows 11

Step 1: In the search box of the Settings app, type Disk Management to see Create and format hard disk partitions in the results.

Step 2: Click Create and format hard disk partitions to open the Disk Management window.

Launch the Disk Management window via File Explorer in Windows 11

Step 1: Open any folder or This PC.

Step 2: In the address bar of the File Explorer, type diskmgmt.msc and then press the Enter key. This method is very helpful when you need to launch the Disk Management without leaving the File Explorer window.

Use Task Manager to open Disk Management in Windows 11

Step 1: Open the Task Manager using Ctrl + Shift + Esc or using the search.

Step 2: In the Task Manager window, click the Run new task button.

Step 3: In the Create new task dialog box, type diskmgmt.msc and then click the OK button to open Disk Management.

Open Disk Management from the Control Panel in Windows 11

Step 1: Launch the Control Panel using search or any other method.

Step 2: Click System and Security.

Step 3: Here, under the Windows Tools section, click Create and format hard disk partitions to open the Disk Management window.

Use Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell to open Disk Management in Windows 11

Step 1: Use the Start menu or taskbar search to open the Command Prompt or PowerShell window.

Step 2: Type diskmgmt.msc and then hit the Enter key to open the Disk Management window.
