How To Check Battery Cycle Count In Windows 11

Last Updated on October 14, 2025 by admin Leave a Comment

The battery cycle count is one of the best and easiest ways to gauge a battery’s approximate health. The battery cycle count can also be used to check if a battery is new or used. A higher cycle count generally means more wear.

Smartphone operating systems such as Android and iOS offer easy ways to check the battery cycle count on devices. In fact, the recent versions of macOS also allow you to view battery cycle count on Macs with a few clicks.

However, Windows 11 does not offer an easy way to check the battery cycle count. The built-in Settings app does not show any information about the battery specifications and cycle count.

That said, Windows 11 does offer a way to check the laptop battery count without using third-party tools. In fact, this feature has been part of the Windows operating system for a long time. It’s just that you need to run a small command to know the battery cycle count in Windows 11.

What is a battery cycle?

A battery cycle is nothing but one full discharge and recharge. For instance, if you charge it to 100% and fully discharge it, that is one battery cycle. In plain terms, a cycle means using 100% of the battery’s capacity, but not necessarily all at once. That is, if you recharge the battery to 50% twice, it would also be counted as one cycle.

Check the battery cycle count or charge cycle count in Windows 11

Step 1: Open Command Prompt.

Step 2: Copy and paste the following command into the Command Prompt window:

powercfg /batteryreport

Press the Enter key to execute the command, which generates a detailed battery report. The Command Prompt window, once the command is executed successfully, shows the location of the saved battery report.

We recommend that you copy the location where the battery report was saved.

Step 3: Now, navigate to this location where the battery report is saved. If you have copied the path, paste the path in the File Explorer address bar or Run command dialog box, and then hit the Enter key to open the report.

Step 4: If you navigated to the location (without copying or pasting the path), double-click the battery-report(.html) file to open the report in your default web browser.

Step 5: Once the report is opened, look for the Cycle count field in the Installed batteries section. The field shows the total battery cycle count.

As you can see in the picture above, the report can also be helpful to know about many other details about the device battery, like the full capacity (when it was new) and the current full charge capacity.

Use the official app by your PC manufacturer to check the battery cycle count

Most PC manufacturers bundle their own software to manage the device. For instance, Lenovo offers an app called Lenovo Vantage. Dell also offers an app called MyDell.
