The Recommended section in the Windows 11 Start menu has been in the news since Windows 11’s launch in 2021. The Recommended section, as you know, displays most recently installed apps and recently accessed files.
Because users use the Start menu to find and launch apps, most users do not prefer seeing recent files in the Start menu.
Luckily, the new redesigned Start menu in Windows 11 supports removing the Recommended section completely from the Start menu. Unlike earlier, the Recommended text is also removed, and the section disappears when you turn off the Recommended section. But the new feature comes with a caveat. When you disable the feature, the Recent section of the File Explorer Home and items in the jump list also disappear!
Yes, if you prefer accessing the recent files from File Explorer Home, you cannot turn off the Recommended section. That said, you can use our how to view all recently accessed files method to view all recent files without opening File Explorer Home.
