HP generally offers a standard 1-year warranty on all its printers and up to a three-year warranty on select printers.
If you have an HP printer and are wondering about its warranty status, here are a few ways to check it without contacting HP support.
Tip: Users experiencing issues with an HP printer connected to a Windows 11 PC can consider updating the printer driver or reinstalling the printer driver, as these solutions often resolve software-related issues.
Method 1 of 3
Check HP printer warranty status in a web browser
This is the best and easiest method to check the warranty status of your HP printer, as you do not need to install the HP Smart or HP app.
Step 1: Visit this official HP warranty page in a web browser of your choice, such as Microsoft Edge.
Step 2: Select your country/region from the drop-down and then type your HP printer’s serial number. The serial number is generally printed on the back side of the printer. If you cannot find it on the back, please check the other sides.
If you cannot find the serial number, you can refer to the other methods mentioned below.
Step 3: Click the Submit button to view all details about your HP printer warranty, including the start and end dates.
Method 2 of 3
Use the HP Smart app on Windows to find the serial number
If you cannot find your printer’s serial number, you can use this method. Unfortunately, the HP Smart app does not show the printer warranty status. We need to use it to find the serial number and then use a web browser to check the warranty status.
Step 1: Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
Step 2: Launch the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen directions to add your HP printer to the app. Ensure that your printer is connected and turned on.
Step 3: On the home page of the HP Smart app, click on the Printer Settings button to open the printer information page, which shows your serial number.
Step 4: Visit this official HP warranty page in a web browser, select your country/region, type the serial number of the printer, and then click the Submit button.
Step 5: Scroll down the page to see the warranty start date as well as the end dates.
