With Windows 11, Microsoft introduced a completely revamped, less-cluttered, and visually appealing context menu, or right-click menu. In order to make the context menu less cluttered, the default Windows 11 context menu shows common actions in the top-most or bottom-most row instead of showing them in the menu.
Common actions such as cut, copy, paste, share, delete, and rename appear at the top/bottom in the context menu. While the early versions of Windows 11 did not have text labels for these actions, recent versions show text labels in addition to icons for these actions.
While this saves a good amount of clutter and space, users who have used Windows 10 and earlier versions for a long time might want to see these common actions inline in the context menu instead of at the top.
All this while, Windows 11 did not offer any option to customize the context menu. Luckily, a new update is now being rolled out to allow users to customize the Windows 11 context menu, including an option to show common actions inline in the context menu. Here is how.
Show cut, copy, paste, rename, and delete inline in the Windows 11 context menu
Step 1: Open Windows 11 Settings via the search or Windows logo + I keyboard shortcut.
Step 2: On the left pane, click Personalization. Now, on the right side, click Context menu to see context menu settings.
NOTE: If the Context menu option does not appear, it’s most likely because of two things. First, the update KB5127936 is not yet installed on your PC (see how to view update history). If it is installed, the feature may not be enabled on your PC yet, as it’s being rolled out gradually.
Step 3: Finally, turn on the Arrange primary actions inline option present in the Additional options section to show all common actions inline.
As you can see in the picture above, the same context menu customization page also lets you add the Print and Send to option to the context menu.
