Access Charms Bar Using Mouse In Windows 10

Last Updated on October 7, 2020 by admin 2 Comments

Charms Bar feature was first introduced with Windows 8 operating system to access settings and options of modern apps or apps installed from the Store. The feature, which was considered one of the annoying features of Windows 8 on a desktop, has been almost dropped from the recently released Windows 10, the successor to Windows 8.

In Windows 10, in order to access settings and options of Modern apps using a mouse, we need to click on “…” located extreme left on the title bar.

While most desktop users consider the Charms bar as annoying and glad that the bar doesn’t appear when the cursor is moved to the top or bottom corner of the screen in Windows 10, there are some users who feel that the Charms bar is the right way to quickly access settings and options of modern, metro or universal apps.

Although the Charms bar has been disabled by default in Windows 10 TP for mouse users, it’s very much present in Windows 10 TP and can be enabled with a small workaround. If you love to have the Charms bar, all you need to do is install a tiny program called PopCharms.

Once PopCharms is installed on your Windows 10 PC, you can access Charms bar by moving the mouse cursor to the right-edge of the screen.

The beauty of this tool is that you get the settings charm when you move the mouse cursor to the right edge of the screen instead of the actual Charms bar. That is, while using a modern app, if you move the mouse cursor the right-edge of the screen, the Settings charm pops up instead of the Charms bar, making it easier to quickly access settings.

Do note that you might see a warning from Windows SmartScreen while attempting to run PopCharms tool but you can safely ignore this warning and run the tool by clicking Run anyway button. Also note that you might need to run this program again after rebooting your PC.

We have tested PopCharms on Windows 10 (x64) and can confirm that it works without any issues. If you love the Charms bar feature, visit the following page to download PopCharms.

Not only is that link dead, but links that have been added to download POPCHARMS also lead only to empty one drive pages !
