Avast has released the final build of its popular Avast 8 security software and is now available for download. The newest version of Avast security comes with a fully redesigned user interface, number of enhancements, and a couple of new features.
Once installed, you will immediately notice the new interface. The new user interface is very easy-to-use and displays security information on the home screen and also lets you access statistics, software updater, and scan.
Software Updater and Browser Cleanup are the two major features introduced with this version. While the Software Updater helps you keep all installed programs up-to-date, the latter one, which can be accessed by clicking on Security Tab, Tools, and then Browser Cleanup helps you remove unwanted browser toolbars and add-ons.
Before you install the software, we advise you create a system restore point before installing the software. Upon launching the setup file, you will see options to install Avast Free Antivirus and also the 20-day free trial version of Internet Security. Click install Avast Free to continue installing the free version of Avast Antivirus.
It’s important to note that the setup of Avast 8 offers you install Google Chrome browser and Google toolbar during the product installation. If you’re not interested in the toolbar, simply uncheck Install Google toolbar option that you see during the installation.
Also note that you can choose features that you want to install during the installation. To do this, select custom installation and then click next button where you can configure the installer to install only components that you would like to install and use. For instance, you can install Avast Free without file shield, mail shield, P2P shield, browser protection, browser cleanup, and software updater features.
