The Recent Items in the Start menu is a great feature to quickly view recently opened files. By default, the number of recent items shown in the Recent Items is 15 (at least for me).
You can increase the maximum number of recent items to your desired one by making a small change to the Windows Registry. Here is how to do that.
Increase the number of items in Start menu recent items list
Step 1. Type regedit in the Start Menu Search box and hit enter or type the same in the Run dialog box and hit press the enter key.
Step 2.Navigate to the following key in Windows Registry Editor:
Step 3. On the right-hand side, create a new DWORD value called MaxRecentDocs and double click on it to change the value.
Step 4. In the “Change Value” dialog box, change the option of the Basis to Decimal and set it’s decimal value as 24 to see 24 recent items in the list. You can, of course, use any other number. Note that the value should be in terms of the decimal.
