Disable Notifications While Gaming And Watching Videos In Windows 10

Last Updated on July 23, 2019 by admin Leave a Comment

Most of us don’t want to get interrupted while gaming and watching movies. While gaming, watching movies, or giving an important presentation, more often than not, we get notifications.

The desktop notification feature in Windows 10 is very helpful, but it can be annoying while gaming, presenting, and watching movies. Sure, you can turn off the notifications, but doing so will turn off notifications all the time.

Luckily, a new feature in Windows 10 allows you to give presentations, watch movies, and play games without any interruption. By configuring the Focus Assist in Windows 10, you will be able to enjoy games and movies without getting disturbed by notifications.

NOTE 1: This solution is perfect only if you watch videos in the full-screen mode. You will continue to get notifications while you are watching videos and playing games in non-full-screen mode. So, whenever you watch a video or play a game, be sure to watch in the full-screen mode to avoid getting notifications.

NOTE 2: You will continue to get alarm notifications even after configuring the Focus Assist.

Instead of turning off all the notifications, you can configure Windows 10 to not to show notifications while watching videos, playing games and during the presentation. Here is how to do that.

Step 1: Navigate to Settings > System > Focus Assist.

Step 2: Next, in the Automatic rules section, turn on When I am duplicating my display (to stop notifications during the presentation), When I am playing a game, and When I am using an app in full-screen mode (for watching videos) options. You can either turn on any one of them or all of them as per your requirement.

After exiting the game, movie, or presentation, you will get a notification with details of what you missed when the Focus Assist was on.
