Can you not hear the sound from your Windows 11 PC speakers? Want to fix the audio problems on your Windows 11 computer but not sure where to start? This guide will discuss the possible fixes to audio or sound issues on Windows 11 computers.
We suggest you try the following solutions in the given order.
Unmute speakers
We might sound silly, but many users often forget to unmute their speakers and think they are not working. You can unmute either using keyboard shortcuts or clicking on the volume icon on the taskbar and then clicking the unmute icon.
Restart your Windows 11 PC
Rebooting your computer might help fix the sound problem and many other issues. We suggest you restart your computer once before trying out other troubleshooting methods.
Check your speaker output
Step 1: Navigate to Windows 11 Settings > System > Sound page.
Step 2: Click on Choose where to play sound.
Step 3: Select your desired sound output device. If there are two or more sound output devices, please try selecting each of them one after another and try playing the audio file to check if it fixes the issue.
Restart the audio service
Step 1: Type services in the search field and then press the Enter key to open the services dialog.
Step 2: Here, look for Windows Audio, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder, and Remote Procedure Call (RPC).
Step 3: Right-click on each of these services one after another and then click the Restart option to restart the Windows 11 audio service.
Restart the audio driver
You can consider disabling and then enabling the speaker in the Device Manager to restart the audio driver, which might fix the issue.
Run the audio troubleshooter
Step 1: Search for the audio troubleshooter and press the Enter key to launch the same.
Step 2: Follow the on-screen directions to complete the troubleshooting. If an issue is found, the troubleshooter will automatically fix it.
Reinstall the sound or audio driver
We recommend you try this as a last resort, but more often than not, this will fix your PC’s sound problem.
Refer to our how to reinstall the audio driver in Windows 10/11 guide to know how to uninstall the audio driver and then install a fresh audio driver in Windows 11.
Try restoring the Windows 11 PC to a previous date
If the sound worked well on your computer a few days or weeks ago, you might be able to restore your Windows 11 PC to an earlier date using system restore points. Refer to our how to restore Windows 10/11 to a previous date guide for directions.
