Windows 11 displays on-screen indicators to show the status of completed actions. For instance, Windows 11 displays an on-screen indicator when you change the volume, turn on/off the caps lock, num lock (number lock), and scroll lock, and adjust the screen brightness.
Up until now, Windows 11 has shown on-screen indicators at the bottom center of the screen. In fact, there were no options to change the default position of the indicators on the screen.
Fortunately, Windows 11 now lets you customize the location of the indicators on the screen. A recent update has finally added options to change the location of indicators on the screen.
Users can now configure on-screen indicators to appear either at the top center, top left, or bottom center of the screen. Of course, an option to drag the indicator to select a location on the screen would have been great, but Windows 11 at least offers three location options for on-screen indicators now.
Here is how to change the default location of on-screen indicators in Windows 11.
NOTE: Changing the default location of the on-screen indicators does not affect notifications or notification banners. They will continue to appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Change on screen indicator position in Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app.
Step 2: On the left pane of the Settings app, click System.
Step 3: Now, on the right side, click Notifications.
Step 4: Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see Indicators from keyboard actions section. If the section is missing, it’s likely because you are running an older version of Windows 11 or because the feature hasn’t been rolled out to your Windows 11 PC yet. Update Windows 11 and try again.
Step 5: Select Top center, Top left, and Bottom center from the drop-down to select a location for all on-screen indicators. That’s it! Again, there should have been an option to show the indicator at the center of the screen!
From now onwards, all on-screen indicators should appear in the new location.
