Windows 11 lets you install apps from the built-in Microsoft Store as well as from the Internet. While modern apps can only be found in the Store, classic desktop programs like Google Chrome browser can be manually downloaded and installed from the Internet.
While browsing the Microsoft Store in Windows 11, you might have come across a few cool apps, and you might have installed them as well. After installing a few of them, you might not remember the names of those apps! How do you launch an app if you do not remember its name? Would not it be cool if there was a way to find out recently installed apps.
Luckily, Windows 11 offers options to find recently installed apps. This guide shows you how to use the built-in Settings app and Start menu to find recently installed apps in Windows 11.
Method 1 of 2
Use the Start menu to find recently installed apps
Step 1: Open the Start menu by pressing the Windows logo key or clicking on the Windows logo button on the taskbar.
Step 2: The Start menu Recommended section shows the most recently installed apps along with recently accessed files.
However, the catch is that the list shows a maximum of three most recently installed apps when in the Default recommendations layout, up to five apps when using More recommendations, and only one app when set to the More pins layout.
You can change this setting by right-clicking on the Start menu and then clicking Start settings.
Method 2 of 2
Find recently installed apps in Windows 11 via the Settings app
The Settings app allows us to sort the installed apps list by Installed date. However, when we do so, it sorts the list by the Updated date and not by the installed date. Therefore, this method is useful for finding apps installed very recently only.
If the Store app automatically updates an app in the background after you install an app, the updated app will appear at the top of the list instead of the installed app!
Step 1: Open the Settings app by right-clicking on the Start/Windows Logo button on the taskbar and then clicking the Settings option. Alternatively, you can use the Windows logo + I hotkey to launch Settings.
Step 2: In the left pane of Settings, click Apps. Now, on the right-side, click Installed apps.
Step 3: The page shows all installed apps on your Windows 11 computer. This list shows apps installed from the Store as well as classic desktop programs that are manually downloaded and installed from the web.
Step 4: Finally, select Date installed from the drop-down next to Sort by to find the most recently installed apps at the top of the list.
