How To Install New Fonts From Store In Windows 10

Installing a new font has always been an easy job in Windows operating system. You just had to download a font and double-click on the font to install it.

There are thousands of free fonts available out there on the internet. But the problem is that it’s hard to find a trusted source to download fonts. Except Google Fonts, there are not many trusted places to browse and download fonts for free.

If you often need to download fonts on your Windows 10 PC, you will be happy to know that you can now download new fonts from the official Windows Store for Windows 10.

Starting with Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803), Microsoft has started offering fonts in the Store, making it easier for users to download and install new fonts in Windows 10.

In Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) and later releases, a new page called Fonts can be found under the Personalization category of Settings app. The Fonts page not only allows you view installed fonts but also enables you to download new fonts from the Windows Store.

As of writing this article, the Store offers less than a dozen fonts, but you can expect a good number of fonts in a few months.

Install a font from Store in Windows 10

Here is how to install new fonts from Store in Windows 10.

NOTE: You must be running 1803 or later version of Windows 10 in order to download fonts from the Store. Type Winver.exe in the search and then press Enter key to see the build number.

Step 1: Open the Settings app. Navigate to Personalization > Fonts. If you cannot see the Fonts page, it’s because you are running a version older than 1803.

Step 2: Click Get more fonts in the Store link to open the fonts page in the Windows Store app.

Step 3: To install a font, click on the font to open its page and then click the Get button. All installed fonts can be seen by navigating to Settings app > Personalization > Fonts.

Uninstall a font in Windows 10

In addition to fonts installed from the Store, you can use this method to uninstall built-in fonts.

Step 1: Navigate to Settings app > Personalization > Fonts. Locate the font that you want to uninstall and click on it to open its page.

Step 2: Click the Uninstall button. When you get the confirmation prompt, click the Uninstall button again to remove the font from your Windows 10 PC.
