If the Skype app throws errors, fails to connect, or does not work correctly, there are multiple options to fix the Skype app.
On Windows 10 and 11, you can reset, repair, and reinstall the Skype app with a few clicks to repair it.
This guide shows you how to reset, repair and reinstall the Skype app in Windows 10/11.
Reinstall the Skype app on Windows 10/11
Step 1: On your Windows 11 PC, navigate to Settings > Apps > Installed apps page. On Windows 10 PC, go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features page.
Step 2: In the installed apps list, look for the Skype entry. On Windows 10 PC, click on the Skype entry and then click the Uninstall button.
On Windows 11, click the three dots next to the Skype entry and then click the Uninstall option.
Step 3: Click the Yes button when asked for confirmation to uninstall and remove the Skype app from your Windows 10/11 PC.
Step 4: Once Skype is uninstalled and removed, launch the Microsoft Store app. In the Store app, use the search function to find the Skype app.
Click the Get/Install button to download and install the Skype app. This completes the Skype app reinstallation.
Reset or repair the Skype app in Windows 10/11
You can use the reset and repair options if the Skype app is not working correctly or throwing errors.
Step 1: On Windows 11 computer, navigate to Settings > Apps > Installed apps page. If you are on Windows 10, navigate to Settings > Apps > Apps and features page.
Step 2: Here, all installed apps appear in the installed apps list. Look for the Skype app entry. You can also use the search field at the top of the list to search for the Skype app.
Step 3: On Windows 10 computer, click on the Skype app’s entry and then click the Advanced options entry.
On Windows 11, click the three dots next to the Skype entry and then click Advanced options.
Step 4: Finally, in the Reset section, click on the Reset button to reset the Skype app to default settings and click on the Repair button to repair the Skype app.
Note that you might have to sign in to the Skype app all over again.
