Mozilla Firefox is one of the most used web browsers across operating systems. Although it’s not as popular as the market leader, Google Chrome, a good percentage of Windows users prefer Firefox over Chrome for a variety of reasons.
While Firefox is a stable browser, you might encounter issues with it very rarely. If the Firefox browser is not working correctly, you can try repairing or resetting it.
This guide shows you how to repair and reset the Mozilla Firefox browser on a Windows 11 PC.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the Firefox browser installed from the Microsoft Store only supports reset and repair. You cannot perform a reset or repair if you have downloaded the Firefox installer from the web and then manually installed it.
Repair Firefox without losing data on Windows 11 PC
Repairing your Firefox browser using this method will not delete any data.
Step 1: Close the Firefox browser if running.
Step 2: Right-click on the Windows logo icon on the taskbar and then click the Settings option to open the Windows 11 Settings app.
Step 3: On the left pane, click Apps. Now, on the right side, click Installed apps to see a list of all installed apps.
Step 4: On this page, ensure that the Details view is selected by clicking on its icon (refer to the picture below) and then look for the Firefox entry.
Step 5: Click the three dots next to the Firefox entry and then click Advanced options.
NOTE: If clicking the three dots does not show Advanced options, it’s likely because the Firefox on your PC is installed from the web and not from the Microsoft Store. As said earlier, Firefox installed from the web cannot be reset or repaired using this method.
Step 6: Finally, scroll down to see the Reset section. Here, click the Repair button to begin repairing the Firefox app on your Windows 11 PC. Once the repair job is done, a tick icon will appear next to the Repair button to indicate that the Firefox app has been repaired successfully.
