How To Set Different Wallpapers For Each Monitor In Windows 11

Last Updated on December 4, 2025 by admin Leave a Comment

A good number of PC users have a dual or multi-monitor setup. If you also have one, you might want to set different wallpapers for each monitor when using dual/multi-monitor with the Extend display option.

Unlike the earlier versions, you do not need third-party software to set different wallpapers for each of your monitors. Windows 11 allows you to have different wallpapers on different monitors. That is, if you have connected two monitors to your Windows 11 PC, you can have wallpaper ‘A’ on your first monitor and wallpaper ‘B’ on your second monitor.

Here is how to set different wallpapers for each of your monitors in Windows 11.

NOTE: Needless to say, it’s impossible to have different wallpapers on each monitor when you are duplicating displays.

Step 1: Ensure that all monitors are connected and powered on.

Step 2: Open the Windows 11 Settings app using search or Windows logo + I keyboard shortcut.

Step 3: On the left pane of the Settings app, click Personalization.

Step 4: On the right-hand side, click Background.

Step 7: After selecting the Picture option, check if the image that you would like to have as a desktop background appears in the Recent images list. If not, click the Browse photos button, navigate to the folder containing the wallpapers, select it, and then click the Choose picture button to add it to the Recent images list.

Step 8: Once you have the picture file here in the Recent images list, right-click the image and then click the ‘1’ option. Next, right-click the picture that you would like to set as the desktop background on monitor number 2, and then click the option ‘2’. That’s it!
