How To Sync Windows & Account Settings In Windows 8

Apart from the fast and fluid user interface, Windows 8 offers a lot of new features that help you take your computing experience to the next level. One of the coolest features present in Windows 8 is sync settings feature using which one can sync various Windows settings and app settings across multiple Windows 8 computers.

With this feature, one can sync desktop background, lock screen background, account picture, window color, themes, taskbar settings, ease of access settings, passwords, language preferences, explorer settings, mouse settings, app and Internet Explorer browser history and favorites.

To be able to use this feature, one needs to login with a Microsoft account. Users who aren’t familiar with the Microsoft account and using local account may follow our what’s Microsoft account and how to switch lock account to Microsoft account guides. Once you login with your Microsoft account, simply follow the below mentioned instructions to enable the sync feature and start syncing all settings across your Windows 8 computers and tablets.

NOTE: Your saved passwords for apps, websites, and networks won’t sync until you trust your PC. To trust your PC, simply click Trust this PC option that appears just below your account name under PC settings and then follow the instructions.

Step 1: Move the mouse cursor to the upper-right corner of the screen to see the Charms bar. Users who are running Windows 8 on touch screen device can simply swipe in from the right edge of the screen to bring up the Charms bar.

Step 2: Click or tap Settings on Charms bar and then click or tap Change PC settings.

Step 3: Here, under PC settings, click or tap Sync your settings on the left side pane to view all settings related to the sync feature on the right-hand side.

Step 4: Enable the sync feature by moving the Sync settings on this PC button to the right of the screen and then select the settings you want to sync.
