Last Updated on March 23, 2024 by admin Leave a Comment

Is your Windows 11 PC taking a long time to turn on? Do you want to make Windows 11 startup faster? If so, turning on the Fast Startup feature should help.

What is the fast startup feature in Windows 11?

As the name suggests, the Fast Startup feature helps your Windows 11 computer start faster after a shutdown. In other words, if you shut down your computer at the end of the day and do not hibernate or sleep for some reason, the Fast Startup feature can help you turn on your PC faster.

Many users are under the impression that the Fast Startup feature is helpful only on PCs where the Windows operating system is installed on a hard disk drive (HDD), and it does not help when Windows is installed on an SSD (Solid State Drive). However, we have found that the Fast Startup feature can also speed up PCs using SSDs.

The Fast Startup feature is not a new feature introduced with Windows 11. In fact, it was part of Windows 8 as well.

Is the Fast Startup feature useful when doing restarts?

NO, the Fast Startup helps Windows load faster only after a shutdown. It does not affect or help restart.

How does the fast startup work in Windows 11?

The Fast Startup in Windows works similarly to the good-old hibernation mode we are all familiar with. When you hibernate your PC, all data from the current session loaded into memory are saved to the hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD), and the same is restored when you turn on your computer.

Whereas in the case of Fast Startup, all sessions are logged off before saving the data from the memory into the drive.
