Up until now, Skype for Outlook.com was available to select number of users and only limited number of users had the privilege to make video calls from their Outlook.com account without having to install Skype app or the desktop client.
Today, Microsoft announced that it has rolled out Skype for Outlook.com feature worldwide, meaning that all Outlook.com users will now be able to make HD (High Definition) Skype video calls right from their Outlook.com inbox, without having to leave the web browser.
Outlook.com users who would like to use this newly introduced feature must have to install a small plugin called Skype Web. In addition to all major web browsers available for Windows, the plugin supports Safari on Mac as well, meaning that even Mac users will be able to make HD video calls using Outlook.com.
As the official Skype blog notes, in order to make HD video calls, both users must have HD compatible displays, web cams, messaging clients and broadband internet facility.
Install Skype plugin and make HD video calls from Outlook.com
Step 1: Head over to this page and click Get started button.
Step 2: In the next screen, click I agree-continue button to begin downloading the Skype web plugin. Click Save file button when you see a small dialog box.
Step 3: Double-click on the downloaded Skype web plugin and click Yes button when you see the User Account Control prompt to install the plugin. You don’t need to restart your web browser.
Step 4: Next, sign-in to your Microsoft account.
Step 5: Click on the Chat icon (see screenshot) that appears in the top right corner of the web page, select the person you would like to call and talk and finally, click on the video or video call button to begin calling the selected contact. That’s it!
NOTE: If you haven’t merged your Skype and Microsoft accounts yet, you need to do so in order to see your Skype contacts in our Outlook.com account.

Hello thanks for the info but I have a question that hasn’t been addressed yet. Most of the time I use Skype on public computers so I don’t want my conversation to be saved there. I know how to delete Skype (app) conversation but does this web plugin store any of your Skype info on pc? If so, how to remove that?
I would appreciate if anyone can help with this answer,
Thanks

Well try applying the same logic to the fact that ‘to skype someone’ has entered everyday language. For consumers the standard has become skype, they don’t see what’s underneath and other than facetime, I would bet that not many people can name another service. Lets face it, no one’s using the google alternative……
