People may wish to save and run apps from the cloud for a variety of reasons. The chary on the cake is you neither need to install any software nor pay a premium to run your favorite programs from the cloud. You just need to head over to Cameyo, the same service that we talked about a few days ago to create portable version of Windows applications.

Cameyo makes running applications from the cloud a tad simple job. As of writing this article, there are hundreds of applications available under 10 different categories. Applications like Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Maxthon are available under Browser category.

Available virtualised programs

Popular media players such as VLC, GOM, KMPlayer, and Winamp can be found under Media category, meaning you don’t need to install or download the portable version of VLC or GOM in order to watch your favorite video on a computer. Applications like TeamViewer, 7-Zip, Glary Utilities, and VirtualBox are available under Utilities.

To run a program, simply move the mouse cursor on the application icon to reveal details, download, and execute buttons. Click the Execute in browser button for Cameyo to start buffering the program. Depending on the program size and speed your internet connection, the time required to buffer the program might very. But once it’s loaded, like video, it’s smooth.

For instance, to launch VLC player, navigate to the Media category, move the mouse over VLC player icon, and then click Execute in browser button to run the program in a new tab. At times, it might take a couple of seconds (5 to 10 seconds) to execute the selected program.

Add your favorite apps

In addition to that, if you find that your program is not available in the list, you can upload your favorite program with a few mouse clicks by registering with the service (free). To do so, after signing in to your Cameyo account, click Add App option located in the sidebar, select Create a new Cameyo package (from software installer), enter the URL to installer of the application, and then click Submit button. This way, you can add your favorite programs with a click without having to download anything to your PC.

Alternatively, as you can see in the above picture, you could also upload an installer from your PC. All newly added application appear under My Apps tab. The apps you added will be stored for a maximum of 7 days but the provision to stored app packages in Dropbox solves the issue. You need to connect to your Dropbox account to save new apps in Dropbox.

As you can see, the interface of CAMEYO is easy-to-navigate. Although some of the applications available on Cameyo are not up-to-date, you can add latest version of those applications by following the above mentioned method. For instance, the Opera app was last updated in April 2014 but most of the apps are up-to-date.

Overall, I am impressed with Cameyo online to say the list. It’s the future of computing. If you have a decent internet connection speed, please try out this service right away. More importantly, it’s free!
