Set Lock Screen Slideshow With Custom Pictures In Windows 10

Last Updated on May 16, 2019 by admin Leave a Comment

Windows 10 offers a feature called slideshow for the desktop background so that users can configure Windows 10 to automatically set a new picture as desktop background every minute, hour or day.

During the launch of Windows 10, the slideshow feature was available only for the desktop background. Luckily, the slideshow feature is now available for the lock screen as well. This means that you can now have a new (custom pictures) picture as lock screen background every day. In short, you can automatically rotate lock screen background.

The lock screen slideshow feature doesn’t offer many options. For instance, there is no option to select the time interval after which a new wallpaper is set as the lock screen background picture.

Note that the Windows Spotlight feature is different. The Windows Spotlight feature available for the lock screen automatically downloads a new wallpaper from Bing every day and sets a new wallpaper as lock screen background every day. The Spotlight feature doesn’t let you use custom pictures with it.

If you remember, there was a third-party software out called Logon Screen Rotator to automatically change login screen background in Windows 10.

Here is how to configure the Windows 10 to change the lock screen background periodically.

Step 1: Open the Settings app. Navigate to Personalization > Lock screen.

Step 2: In the Background section, choose the Slideshow option from the drop-down box.

Step 3: You will now see Choose albums for your slideshow section. Click on the Add a folder icon and then select the folder containing your favorite pictures that you would like to use for the lock screen.

To configure the slideshow, click the Advanced slideshow settings link. Here, you can find a few options to change the default behavior of the slideshow. We recommend you turn on Only use pictures that fit my screen, play a slideshow when using battery power (if you don’t mind draining the battery fast), and when my PC is inactive, show lock screen instead of turning off the screen.

Unfortunately, there is no option to select how often the lock screen background images change. On our PC, Windows 10 started the slideshow a few hours after turning on the slideshow and cycled through background images once a day. We recommend you restart your PC once after turning on the lock screen slideshow feature.
