Windows 10 Is A Free Upgrade For Windows 7 And Windows 8.1 Users

Last Updated on September 26, 2020 by admin 5 Comments

Just a couple of hours ago, Microsoft shared some fantastic features available in its upcoming Windows 10 operating system. As you likely know, Windows 10 is not just for traditional desktops and modern tablets, but it also supports a wide range of devices from phones to Xbox to Microsoft Surface Hub to Microsoft HoloLens.

The best thing about Windows 10 is that it’s absolutely free for existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 users, meaning PCs running Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 can be upgraded to Windows 10 for absolutely free. The only condition here is that you need to upgrade your Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 installation to Windows 10 within a year after the release of Windows 10.

To avail of the free upgrade offer, you need to upgrade your Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 installations to Windows 10 on or before 30th July 2016.

NOTE: Although the official free upgrade is no longer available, users are reporting that the free upgrade still works.

Once your PC is upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft will keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device for free. It’s a brilliant and bold move by Microsoft as this will help millions of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users upgrade to the newest version of Windows 10 at no additional cost.

Windows 10 is not just about the return of the Start menu but also comes with some prominent features like Cortana (personal digital assistant), universal apps, a new web browser called Edge, continuum mode, and Holographic feature.

The best part is that you can keep your files and programs while upgrading to Windows 10. Use the official Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10.
