PCtransfer: Windows Easy Transfer For Windows 10/8.1

Last Updated on May 21, 2016 by admin 5 Comments

Windows Easy Transfer, a feature available in Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, allows users easily transfer user accounts, pictures, music, e-mails, and documents from one Windows PC to another. Windows Easy Transfer is useful for users who would like to quickly transfer documents, pictures and accounts from old PC to new one.

Even though the feature was present in Windows 8, Microsoft has removed this handy feature from Windows 8.1 as well as the latest Windows 10. That is, Windows Easy Transfer feature isn’t available in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. It’s true that Microsoft is allowing Windows 7 and Windows 8 users upgrade to Windows 10 by keeping personal files, but users who need to quickly move documents, files, pictures and settings from one Windows 10 PC to another will miss this feature for sure.

While Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 allow users sync personalization, app and other settings by logging in with a Microsoft account, users who don’t like to sign in with a Microsoft account have no option but to go for third-party tools.

IObit PCtransfer

IObit PCtransfer is a free tool designed to help you easily transfer documents, pictures, browser bookmarks, settings, emails and Skype chat record from one PC to another. The best thing is that it supports all recent versions of Windows, from Windows XP to Windows 10. That is, you can use this tool as an alternative to Windows Easy Transfer, especially if you’re on Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.

Since the user interface of this software is easy to navigate and there are very few options that you need to bother about, this software is extremely easy to use. It offers you choose the files you want to backup and also the backup location.

Once you have the backup copy, you can run the same program on your new PC and use the Restore feature to restore all files. And the best thing is that it’s portable, meaning that you can run this software without having to install it.

All in all, IObit PCtransfer is a decent, free tool to transfer files from one PC to another. If you’re on Windows 7 or Windows 8, we still recommend you go for the native Windows Easy Transfer as it lets you transfer user accounts as well.

Turns out Windows 8 (and now Windows 10) no longer allow Easy Transfer “out of the box”. However, I’ve found this tutorial on a Windows Easy Transfer alternative which claims to do it for 8 and 10 as well: hxxp://www.zinstall.com/how-to/how-to-use-windows-easy-transfer-on-windows-10
