Windows Fax and Scan is one of the classic programs of the Windows operating system. The Fax and Scan, as the title suggests, helps you send and receive faxes, and scan documents and pictures.
Although the Fax functionality is hardly used these days, many users still prefer the Fax and Scan tool over the new Scan app, as the Fax and Scan tool is stable.
Unfortunately, as you likely have observed, the Windows Fax and Scan program is not installed by default in Windows 11. That is, on a new PC or when you reinstall Windows 11, the Fax and Scan is missing as it has been replaced with the new Scan app. That said, Windows 11 running on x64 devices does offer an option to install Windows Fax and Scan again as an optional feature, and it can be done in a few minutes. Once installed, the Fax and Scan tool works great on Windows 11 as well.
Can I install Windows Fax and Scan on Windows 11 ARM version?
As per this supporting page on Microsoft website, the Windows Fax and Scan program is not available on the ARM version of Windows 11. Yes, as per the page, Windows Fax and Scan cannot be installed even as an optional feature on Windows 11 ARM version.
So, if you are running Windows 11 on an ARM device like the Surface Laptop 7, you have no option but to use the built-in Scan app.
Tip: The new Scan app offers options to save scanned documents/pictures in PDF format as well.
