Do you want to rotate the screen on your Windows 11 computer? Want to change the screen orientation in Windows 11? This guide shows you how to do just that.
Why rotate the screen in Windows 11?
You might be wondering why you rotate the screen on a computer. It’s because, for some tasks, the default landscape mode might not be ideal, and the portrait mode might be the best orientation.
There are multiple ways to rotate the screen on a Windows 11 computer. Following are the two easy ways to rotate the screen.
Method 1 of 2
Rotate the Windows 11 screen via the Settings app
Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app using search or Windows logo + I hotkey.
Step 2: On the left pane, click System. Now, on the right side, click Display to open the display settings page.
Step 3: Here, under the Scale and layout section, you should see Display orientation.
The page offers four orientations:
Landscape (default)
Portrait – rotates the screen 90 degrees to the left
Portrait (flipped)- rotates the screen 90 degrees to the right
Landscape (flipped) – rotates the screen 180 degrees
Step 4: Select an orientation option from the drop-down to see the preview. The preview will last for 15 seconds before restoring the current orientation. During the preview, you can press the Escape key to exit the preview.
If you are happy with the selected orientation, click the Keep changes button to rotate the screen immediately. That’s it!
Method 2 of 2
Rotate the screen in Windows 11 using keyboard shortcuts
If you need to rotate the display very often, changing the screen orientation via the Settings app might not be a good idea. Instead, use these keyboard shortcuts.
Ctrl + Alt + Up arrow – default landscape
Ctrl + Alt + Down arrow – rotate the screen by 180 degree
Ctrl + Alt + Left arrow – rotate the screen by 90 degrees to the left
Ctrl + Alt + Right arrow – rotate the screen by 90 degrees to the right
If, for some reason, these keyboard shortcuts do not work on your computer, please use the directions mentioned in Method 1.
In addition to these two methods, you might also be able to use the graphics software offered by the graphics card manufacturer to rotate the screen. That said, not all graphics card manufacturers offer this option. For instance, the latest version of Intel Graphics Command Center seems to be missing the option to rotate the screen.
