While working with multiple apps, minimizing apps you do not need currently can help improve the workflow, avoid clutter, and clear the screen space for other apps.
Windows 11 offers multiple options to minimize an app. You can either use a mouse or keyboard shortcut to minimize an app.
The following are the four easy ways to minimize an app in Windows 11.
Method 1 of 4
Minimize an app by clicking the minimize button in Windows 11
Step 1: Hover the cursor over the minimize button in the app’s title bar and then click it to minimize the app to the taskbar. If you do not know, the minimize button appears at the right of the window and is represented with a “-” icon.
Method 2 of 4
Minimize an app from the taskbar in Windows 11
Step 1: To minimize an app, all you need to do is click its icon in the taskbar once. Clicking its icon in the taskbar restores its window again.
Method 3 of 4
Another way to minimize an app from within the app window in Windows 11
Step 1: Right-click the app’s title bar and then click the Minimize option in the context menu. If you do not know, the title bar is the horizontal bar at the top of a window (refer to the picture below).
Method 4 of 4
Keyboard shortcut to minimize an app in Windows 11
Step 1: When the app is open, minimize it using the Windows logo key + down arrow keyboard shortcut. You can use Windows + D or Windows + M to minimize all open apps.
Note that if the app window is maximized, then you may need to press the down arrow twice after holding the Windows logo key to minimize the app.
