Using Office 2013 On Touch Screen

Office 2013 Customer Preview has just been released with  and is now available to end users for testing on Windows 7 and Windows 8. Office 2013 (aka Office 365 Customer Preview) sports Metro-style user interface and packs-in plenty of new and enhanced features.

Just like Windows 8, Office 2013 has also been designed for both touchscreen devices and traditional desktops. Office 2013 works like a dream on Windows 8 tablets and many features works best on Windows 8 only. If you are using Office 2013 on a touch screen device, you may like to know how touch gestures work in the newest version of Office.

Office 2013 Touch Gestures

Office 2013 supports all basic gestures such as tap, pinch, stretch, slide, and swipe. In an Office 2013 program, you can touch the object and slide it to perform move action. To resize, tap the object first, then press and drag the object’s resize handle. To rotate a picture, tap the object, then press and drag the rotation handle.

You can always launch the touch keyboard by tapping touch keyboard button on the Windows 8 taskbar. Tap the X button to hide the keyboard.

When using PowerPoint program, spread two fingers apart on a slide to zoom into the slide. Pinching two fingers together will zoom out the slide. To select text, tap in the text and drag the selection handle. To scroll a document, touch the doc and slide it up or down. To select multiple objects, tap an object, hold it, and then tap other objects.
