In addition to all above mentioned features and options, there is a new feature in Windows 8.1 that allows you play your favourite pictures on the lock screen as slide show.

Lock screen slide show is one of the 50+ new features introduced with Windows 8.1. When enabled and configured, Windows 8.1 turns your lock screen into a slide show of your pictures. By default this feature is turned off and needs to be enabled by opening PC settings.

Complete the given below instructions to enable and configure lock screen slide show in Windows 8.1:

Step 1: Open PC settings. To do this, move the mouse pointer to the upper or lower right of the screen to see the Charms bar (you can also press Windows logo and C key to revel the Charms bar), click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.

Step 3: On the right-side, under Slide show, toggle on the option titled Play a slide show on the lock screen to enable the feature. If you want Windows to play slide show even when your PC using battery power (battery might drain quickly), turn on the option titled Play a slide show when using battery power.

Step 4: Next, click Add a folder option and browse to the folder containing photos that you would like to use for slide show.

Note that when you click the Add a folder option, you might see your SkyDrive account. If the photos are on a local drive, click on the SkyDrive icon (located upper-left) to see Computer icon. Click on the Computer icon, browse to folder that you wish to select, and finally click Choose this folder button to select the folder and images saved in the folder for slide show.

Note that you can use pictures from multiple folders for the slide show. Click Add a folder option to add new folders. To remove a folder, click on the folder name and then click Remove.

Step 5: Next toggle on the option titled Let Windows choose pictures for my slide show if you want Windows to select random pictures from added folder(s) and ignore very small pictures, if any.

Step 6: Finally, choose the inactive time before the slide show starts. As you can see, by default Windows plays the slide show after your Windows 8.1 machine is inactive for 15 minutes. You can change it to 1 minute, 2, 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. That’s it!

Leave your system idle for a minute or the time you have selected in PC settings to see the lock screen slide show. Please note that if you turn on screen saver after enabling lock screen slide show, Windows will automatically turn off lock screen slide show.
