Opera web browser, launched about three decades ago, has come a long way since its inception. Opera might not have reached the same popularity as Google Chrome or Firefox, but a healthy percentage of computer and smartphone users use Opera as their default web browser.

One of the interesting facts about Opera (recent versions, to be precise) is that it’s based on Chromium, the open-source project that powers the very popular Google Chrome.

Because Opera is based on Chromium, it supports most of the extensions out there for Chrome. Although Opera is based on Chromium, it has several unique features, like a built-in free VPN, an ad-blocker, and a sidebar to let you quickly access your favorite services.

If you are also an Opera browser lover and use it every day, you should create a shortcut for it on the Windows 11 desktop so that you can access it easily.

This guide shows you how to create an Opera browser shortcut on a Windows 11 desktop.
