In a recent version of the Edge browser, Microsoft introduced a new feature called sidebar. As the name indicates, a bar appears on the right side of the Edge browser.
The sidebar shows search, discover, shopping, tools, games, Office, Outlook, and e-tree shortcut icons on it by default. However, users can customize the Edge sidebar by adding or removing shortcut icons. For example, you can remove the shopping icon and add the Gmail icon so that you can quickly check your Gmail inbox.
Many users might like the Edge sidebar. However, most users might not like it as it takes up a good amount of screen space and might distract users.
Luckily, the Microsoft Edge browser allows you to hide the sidebar like many other features.
This guide will show you how to hide the Edge sidebar in Windows 10/11 and Mac.
Method 1 of 4
Show/hide the Edge sidebar with a keyboard shortcut on Windows 10/11
Simultaneously press Ctrl, Shift, and / keys to toggle the sidebar on/off. That is, Ctrl + Shift + / (forward slash).
This hotkey is helpful for users who like it but may want to disable it occasionally.
Method 2 of 4
Hide the Edge sidebar in Windows 10/11 and Mac
Step 1: When the sidebar is visible, click on the Hide sidebar icon (refer to the picture below) to hide it immediately.
Method 3 of 4
Enable or disable the Edge sidebar in Windows 10/11 and Mac
Step 1: Click the three dots (the settings and more icon) and click the Show/Hide sidebar option to show/hide the sidebar.
Method 4 of 4
Enable or disable the Microsoft Edge sidebar in Windows and Mac
Step 1: Click Settings and more (…) icon and then click Settings option to open the Edge settings page.
Step 2: In the left pane, click Sidebar
Step 3: On the right side, turn on the Show sidebar option to turn on the sidebar. Move the toggle button to the Off position to turn off the Edge sidebar.

I confirm comment by Dale A Amlee above – there is no ‘show sidebar’ anywhere on my W10 computer. Not in Settings, not in Edge Settings. Not “Appearance”, not in “Sidebar”. I find no Sidebar option anywhere.
Dale A Amlee says
There is no “show sidebar” button in the Appearance or in the Sidebar menu.
