6 Ways To Hibernate A Windows 11 PC

Hibernating your Windows 11 PC lets you save your current work and session to resume exactly where you left off. Besides, powering on a hibernated PC hardly takes seconds compared to turning on a Windows 11 PC from a shut-down state.

A good number of Windows users hibernate their PCs instead of shutting them down. Windows 11 offers multiple options to hibernate your computer.

The following are the six easy ways to hibernate your Windows 11 PC.

Method 1 of 6

Hibernate Windows 11 from the Start menu in Windows 11

Step 1: Press the Windows logo key on the keyboard or click the Windows logo key on the taskbar to open the Start menu.

Step 2: Click the power icon located at the bottom right of the Start menu and then click the Hibernate option to hibernate your Windows 11 PC immediately.

Step 1: Right-click the Windows logo icon on the taskbar to see the power-user menu.

Step 2: Here, click Shut down or sign out, and then click the Hibernate option to hibernate your Windows 11 PC.

Method 3 of 6

Step 1: Minimize all running apps and File Explorer windows. You can minimize all running apps with the Windows logo + D keyboard shortcut.

Step 2: Simultaneously press the Alt and F4 keys (Alt + F4) to open the Shut down Windows dialog.

Step 3: Here, select the Hibernate option from the drop-down and then click the OK button to hibernate your PC.

Method 4 of 6

Use the keyboard to hibernate a Windows 11 PC

Step 1: Simultaneously press the Windows logo and X keys to open the power user menu.

Step 2: Press the “U” key once to see Hibernate, Shut down, Restart, and other options.

Step 3: Finally, press the “H” key to hibernate your Windows 11 PC.

Step 1: When at the lock screen, press the Enter key to see the sign-in screen.

Step 2: Click the power icon located in the bottom right corner of the screen and then click the Hibernate option.

Use your PC’s power button to hibernate your Windows 11 PC

Most users are not aware of this nifty feature. If you often hibernate your PC, you can configure Windows 11 to hibernate your PC when you press the physical power button on the PC.

Step 2: Once done, you may press and hold the power button for about two seconds to hibernate your PC.
