How To Update Printer Driver In Windows 11

Is the printer driver installed on your Windows 11 PC outdated? Would you like to update the HP, Canon, Epson, or Brother printer driver on your Windows 11 device to the latest version? If yes, you will be delighted to know that updating the installed printer driver is easy and a straightforward job.

Windows 11 offers more than a way to update device drivers. You can either use the device driver update feature to update the driver or manually download and install the latest driver to update the current printer driver.

NOTE 1: Please note that the method may not work if the device driver update feature is disabled on your Windows 11 PC.

NOTE 2: Occasionally, the Windows Update service may offer a driver that is older than the one already installed on your PC. Please check the driver version before trying to update via the Settings app.

Update the printer driver via the Settings app in Windows 11

Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app. On the left pane of the Settings app, click Windows Update to navigate to the Windows Update settings page.

Step 2: On this page, click Advanced options.

Step 3: Scroll down the page to see the Additional options section. Click Optional updates.

Step 4: Click Driver updates to see all updates available for installed device drivers. If an update is available for your printer, it should appear here. If available, select the checkbox next to the printer driver and then click the “Download and install” button to download and install the printer driver update.

Method 2 of 2

Manually download and install the printer driver in Windows 11

Step 1: Visit your printer manufacturer’s website in a web browser of your choice, navigate to the drivers and software page, and then type your printer model number to find the driver.

Step 2: Download the latest driver software.

Step 3: Run the downloaded printer driver setup file and follow the easy on-screen directions to complete the installation. We suggest you keep your printer connected to your Windows 11 computer while installing the driver.

The new driver will automatically update the old printer driver installed on your PC.
