The Apple Finder in macOS is a file manager to find and organize your files and folders on Macs. The Finder is equivalent to the Windows operating system’s File Explorer or Windows Explorer.
Because Finder on Macs and File Explorer on Windows are designed for the same purpose, both offer similar features and options.
If you have used Macs for a long time before switching to Windows 10/11 PCs or you often switch between Windows 10/11 PCs and Macs, you might want to know if it’s possible to install the macOS Finder on Windows 10/11 PCs so that you can easily manage your files without opening the File Explorer.
Is it possible to install macOS Finder on Windows 10/11 PCs?
To answer the question, it’s impossible to install Apple or Mac Finder on Windows 10/11 running computers. Since the Finder is part of the macOS and is not a third-party app, it cannot be installed on your Windows 10/11 computers.
The only option to try the Finder on a Windows 10/11 computer is to install macOS in a virtual machine and then try the Finder.
Alternatives to File Explorer on Windows 10/11 PC
If you like the Finder more than the default File Explorer in Windows 10/11, you can try using third-party file managers available for Windows.
While the File Explorer in Windows 10/11 is pretty good, and we recommend the default File Explorer over third-party ones, there is an app called Files App, which has an excellent user interface and offers almost all the features offered by the Windows File Explorer.
The Files app can be installed from the Microsoft Store. Although it is not free, it really is a good file manager app.
