Can We Install Internet Explorer On Macs?

On Macs, Apple Safari is the default web browser. The Safari browser, as per Apple, not only offers better privacy but is also light on system resources, including battery.

Many users who do not like the native Safari browser on Macs use third-party web browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox. A small number of users, at times, might want to use the Internet Explorer browser on Macs.

How do I download Internet Explorer for Mac?

Microsoft no longer offers Internet Explorer for Macs. About two and half decades ago, Microsoft offered the Internet Explorer browser for Macs, just like the Apple Safari browser was available for Apple.

Interestingly, Microsoft Internet Explorer was the default web browser on Macs until the Safari browser was launched in 2003. In 2005, Microsoft stopped developing Internet Explorer for Macs, two years after Apple launched its own web browser.

In short, there is no official way to install Internet Explorer on a Mac.

The best way to try out Internet Explorer on a Mac is to install Windows operating system on a Mac either using Boot Camp Assistant or Parallels Desktop virtualization software and then try Internet Explorer.

Although Internet Explorer is not part of the latest Windows 10 and 11 builds, there are ways to install Internet Explorer in Windows 11 and Windows 10.

Try Microsoft Edge instead of Internet Explorer on a Mac

You might want to try Internet Explorer on your Mac but the fact is that Internet Explorer is now dead.

Running Internet Explorer in Windows or macOS is unsafe as Microsoft stopped supporting the browser a few years ago. Moreover, to replace it, Microsoft released a new web browser called Edge, which is also available for Mac. We suggest you try the Microsoft Edge browser on Mac for the best web browsing experience.
