Sticky Notes 3 and later versions support syncing notes across your Windows 10 devices. You just need to sign in with a Microsoft account to begin syncing Sticky Notes data across your devices.
The cloud sync feature is helpful even for users who don’t own multiple Windows 10 device as they always have a backup copy of Sticky Notes.
While using the Sticky Notes app, sometimes you might experience syncing issues. If the Sticky Notes app on your Windows 10 PC is also refusing to sync, try out the following solutions.
Check if you have signed-in to Sticky Notes
The current version of Sticky Notes doesn’t automatically use your Microsoft account details to sign in. You need to manually sign in to Sticky Notes app to begin syncing notes.
So, check if you have signed in by opening All notes, clicking the settings/gear icon. If you have signed in, you will see the email address used to sign in to the app with a sign out option.
Make sure you are using the same email ID across PCs
To sync your Sticky Notes across all Windows 10 PCs, you must sign in to Sticky Notes with the same email ID across all devices. To check the email ID used to sign in to Sticky Notes, open All notes and then click on the gear/settings icon.
Check whether Sticky Notes is syncing to cloud
Whenever you create a new note or make changes to a note, Sticky Notes automatically syncs the data to the cloud. When the sync is in progress (mostly happens in a few seconds), a sync sign will appear on the title bar of the note as shown in the picture below. Check if that sign is appearing after making changes to sticky notes.
If Sticky Notes is unable to sync data, you will see an exclamation sign instead of check or sync sign.
Manually sync Sticky Notes
By default settings, Sticky Notes automatically syncs data, and you don’t need to do anything. In addition to that, it offers an option to manually sync the data. You can use this feature to manually sync your notes. Here is how to do that:
Step 1: Open All notes in Sticky Notes. Click on the settings/gear icon to open Sticky Notes settings page.
Step 2: Click on the Sync Now button to manually sync the data.
Repair and Reset Sticky Notes
Windows 10 offers options to repair the Sticky Notes app as well as reset it. While repairing Sticky Notes won’t delete the data saved in Sticky Notes (if it’s not synced), resetting it might remove the data.
To repair and reset Sticky Notes:
Step 1: Navigate to Settings app > Apps > Apps & Features.
Step 2: Click on Microsoft Sticky Notes entry and then click Advanced options link to open the same. If you cannot see the Advanced options link, please select the Sticky Notes entry again.
Step 3: Click on the Repair button to repair the app. If Sticky Notes is not syncing even after repairing it, reset it by clicking on the Reset button.
Reinstall Sticky Notes
If nothing worked, reinstall the Sticky Notes app by following the directions in our how to uninstall or reinstall the Sticky Notes app in Windows 10 guide.
