With Windows 11 September 2023 Update, Microsoft introduced an updated File Explorer. The new File Explorer sports an updated UI along with a new feature called Gallery.
The Gallery is a new feature in the File Explorer designed to help you access your photo collection quickly. You can access the Gallery from the File Explorer navigation pane (sidebar).
Although Gallery is a new feature to File Explorer, it’s not an entirely new feature to Windows 11. The in-built Photos app already has this feature in the name of All Photos, where we can access all photos.
The Gallery in File Explorer is designed to help you access all photos on your Windows 11 computer. However, it might not show all photos by default. With default settings, it might show photos in the Pictures folder under your user account folder and the Pictures folder on your OneDrive account.
To add more photos, you need to add new locations/folders to the Gallery. This guide shows you how to add new images to the Gallery by adding more folders/locations.
Add more photos to Gallery in Windows 11
Step 1: Open File Explorer. Click on the Gallery in the left pane to open Gallery.
Step 2: Now, click the Collection button in the toolbar and then click the Manage collection option. This will open the Gallery Locations dialog.
Step 3: Here, click the Add button, browse to the folder that you want to add to Gallery, select it, and then click the Include Folder button. Once a folder is added, all images present in the folder will appear in the Gallery. Note that you cannot select multiple folders. However, you can add as many folders as you want by adding them one after another.
Step 4: Finally, click the OK button. That’s it!
