Connecting a Bluetooth keyboard to your Windows 11 device is easy if you know the procedure. All it takes is about a minute!
Connect a Bluetooth keyboard to your Windows 11 PC
NOTE: We assume that you have a mouse or trackpad connected to your Windows 11 device.
Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app. Since you do not have a keyboard connected, right-click the Windows logo button on the taskbar and then click Settings to open the Settings app.
Step 2: On the left pane of the Settings app, click Bluetooth & devices.
Step 3: Now, on the right side, ensure that the Bluetooth option is turned on. If not, move the toggle button next to the ‘Bluetooth’ option to turn on the Bluetooth immediately.
Step 4: Once Bluetooth is turned on, click the ‘Add device’ button (with the large plus sign) on the same page to open the ‘Add a device’ dialog.
Step 5: Ensure that your Bluetooth keyboard is turned on. Press the ‘connect’ key on it a couple of times, if the keyboard has one.
For instance, on my Dell KB700 keyboard, I need to press the physical ‘connect’ key twice to enter pairing mode. If you are unsure about the connect key, please search the internet using your keyboard model number to learn more about it, or contact your keyboard manufacturer.
Step 4: On the ‘Add a device’ dialog that you opened previously, click the ‘Bluetooth’ option.
Step 5: Your Windows 11 device will now begin searching for nearby Bluetooth devices. Once your keyboard is detected, click on its entry.
Step 6: Windows 11 will now display a number that you need to type on your Bluetooth keyboard that you are trying to connect. Type the code. Press the Enter key if required.
NOTE: If you get a ‘failed to connect’ or any similar message, turn off and then turn on the Bluetooth before trying again.
Step 6: Once connected, a ‘Your device is ready to go!’ message. Close the ‘Add a device’ dialog now.
The keyboard should start working now. Please check the same by pressing the Windows logo key on the keyboard, which opens the Start menu.
